Making of Marie Claire Malaysia editorial
As you may know from my instagram account (dominikabravencova) I was honoured to cooperate with Marie Claire magazine during my stay in Malaysia. Funny thing about it was a fact that my agency told me that on my birthday which was a perfect surprise and the best birthday gift ever.
I worked with this magazine before so maybe you are thinking why I was so excited about it. The reason of my excitement was that we should shoot it in Korea, where I really wanted to go for a very long time. So our plan was easy, we had to catch our flight to Seoul on Thursday evening, got there at 6:40AM and shoot straight after that the whole day. After that I had two more days in Seoul with a great tour guide and we could explore the city together. The whole team except me was staying there a few days longer and did one more editorial shoot with another model. Unfortunately I couldn't stay longer with them, because I had other jobs in Malaysia, so I left them on Sunday afternoon and got back to Kuala Lumpur.
Our flight from Kuala Lumpur to Seoul took us maybe seven hours and of course I couldn't fall asleep, so I slept maybe two or three hours maximum. But the adrenalin in my system saved me and I wasn't sleepy at all. I have to say a big "Thank you" to the whole team including our amazing tour guide who took a great care of us during this trip and showed us many beautiful places and magical Korean culture. We had our own private bus which brought us on the location of our shooting as well as on every tourist place where we wanted to go.
We were shooting in the area of Korean folk village (their website is here), which you should definitely visit if you are in Seoul. We had to get eleven photos with eleven outfits of the biggest fashion designers as Fendi, Gucci, Valentino etc. One of the dresses from Michael Kors wore also Kendall Jenner during his fashion show and we had to send them to New York for another shooting straight after we got our picture.
It was a nice sunny day but later during the afternoon it started to be really hot, so I had to be careful and drink a lot of water to stay hydrated. That is very important thing to keep on mind during every outdoor shooting. I had just one make-up and hair style so we didn't loose time changing it and we could focus on taking the best pictures. That took as maybe 8 hours or even more, but it worth it for sure!
After we finished, we went for a traditional Korean diner near by our location. It was the first time I have been in such a traditional Korean restaurant and tasted other Korean food except BBQ. Next two days we spent together exploring the city and trying local food. Honestly I think that I gain after this trip, because we ate so much, but at least we were walking around a lot, so it wasn't too bad. They really took a great care of me which I am grateful for. I will always remember these days and I hope I will have a chance to come to Seoul at least once more with my boyfriend to show him everything.
One more time, thanks a lot to everybody from that amazing team and I hope we will cooperate again! Editor Azza, photographer Steve, make-up artist Khir and hair stylist Kay and everybody else, who doesn't have the instagram account or I couldn't find it and was taking a part of this amazing project.
